Before It’s All Gone. Lobster and Wine painting inspiration

You never know when dinner might turn into a perfect photo op.

A family gathering and good food made for a great day and an unexpected opportunity to take a quick snapshot of a colorful accidental setup. No rearranging necessary. Also no time as the guests were patiently awaiting the main course.Click. Click. Late afternoon sunlight helped seal the deal and provided wonderful reflections and shadows on the glass stove top. I love serendipitously discovering these real life still life setups. Not that I mind setting up a still life, but there is something interesting about having my eyes open at all times–open to unplanned unusual arrangements of common objects.

It’s worth the few seconds to record the inspiration and then build a great painting based on the photo reference.

Please take a look at “Perfect Pairing” on my website to see the colorful result of having taken a minute to record a moment.
