Isn’t there so much to love about this overcast view? Neutral greys of the sky and reflections on the water are what forms the foundation of this scene. The tree trunks and foliage interrupt the expanse while adding texture and visual interest. The distant horizon brings subtle curves as well as cool blue tones that introduce activity to what could have been a flat horizon line. Of course here in New Hampshire it’s tough to find any smooth horizontal because we are surrounded by so many tree-covered hills and lakes. I’m not complaining here as we live in a very beautiful place. And even the not-so-perfect days offer any artist a great opportunity.
